Aquatec was able to provide a pre-manufactured upgrade kit for ease and speed of installation into the existing technology at the Raglan Day Care Centre.
Reducing maintenance costs
The Raglan Day Care Centre, with 100 kids and an onsite café, was having ongoing issues with blockages due to the high number of rags and wipes being used on the premises.
Following 10 pump replacements in 12 months, costs to Waikato District Council were rising. The council was willing to trial new equipment to reduce their maintenance costs and after meeting Aquatec at the 2015 Water NZ Conference, they decided to trial our OGT pump as a solution.
Partnering with local expertise
Aquatec has partnered with Oasis Clearwater Environmental Systems, a member of the Humes Group, to provide complete support to our New Zealand based clients.
Upgrading existing technology
Upgrading the pump did not require any additional equipment replacement or interruption to the customer. After six months of successful operation, WDC took the opportunity to further invest in the site and added an OmniSmart Control Panel to provide greater visibility via remote communication to pre-alert maintenance staff of fault conditions.
00 OGT pump technology
The Aquatec OGT pump is Australasia’s first and only residential pressure sewer pump with a 20-year life span and zero scheduled maintenance. It has been tested for the equivalent of 20 years’ usage across domestic sewer applications. Additionally, it is fully designed to integrate with progressive cavity pumps in existing networks.
01 Site improvements
Since the installation of the OGT pump, the council has reported a distinct improvement in the condition of the well. The well is cleaner with less odour, and it now contains less rags and wipes.
Compared to the Raglan Day Care Centre’s previous experience, where 10 pump replacements were made in 12 months, there has only been one blockage requiring removal of the pump by council. Council was able to find the source of the blockage, which staff dislodged and disposed of, and the pump was reinstalled within 30 minutes without any damage.
“After trialling the OGT at one of our Raglan sites for what must be almost seven months now, we have been very impressed with its reliability. We have only had one blockage on site since its installation and all that was required to do was to lift the pump and clear a clump of wet wipes.”
